4th Annual Marc Jr Foundation Chili Cook-Off @ Thornton Harvest Fest


Event Description:


THE MARC JR 4th ANNUAL CHILI COOK-OFF!!


Categories include: 1) Red Chili 2) Green Chili, and 3) Bean/Cowboy Chili — NOT to forget we will once again be offering a prize for the Best Table Presentation!! Sign up early – do not miss out – space is limited!!


If you make GREAT Chili, we have just the event for you!


The only cost is the ingredients, and you can win fabulous Pampered Chef prizes sponsored by UPS — but the best part is — the money raised will go to benefit families facing a terminal pediatric DIPG brain tumor.


What:  A fun-filled day of great food and live entertainment where you compete to find out who can cook up the best chili in our community with chances to win fabulous prizes.


Where:  2019 Thornton Harvest Fest


 Why:  Proceeds from the Chili-Cook-Off will be used for the Marc Jr Grant program. Grants are sent to families facing a terminal pediatric DIPG brain tumor.


Cost:  Chili Cook-Off Participants $0.00



  • Please note you will be required to bring 3-5 gallons of PRE-MADE CHILI (NO cooking onsite)

  • Electricity for crockpots WILL be provided (NO open flame stoves)

  • Don’t forget fun creative decorations for your area!

  • Please bring a cooler to keep any unused chili refrigerated

  • You are allowed three people per station


The event will provide: 1) small tasting cup; 2) tasting spoons; 3) tent; 4) one 8-foot table; 5) chips and water


PRIZES:  PEOPLES CHOICE (Awards go to the 1st Place Winner(s) in each category)

 Schedule:  


10:00 a.m. – Chili cooking participants arrive and set up


11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. – Chili serving, public tasting, and judging begins


2:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Chili servers will continue serving what they have left


3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Chili serving ends and clean up and clearing of area begins


4:00 p.m. – Prizes awarded at this time


RULES regarding the 3 (THREE) Chili Categories as defined at the 2019 Harvest Fest Chili Cook-Off Benefiting the Marc Jr Foundation!!! 


RED CHILI: Red chili is defined as containing NO beans!! Red chili is made with or without meat, red chili peppers, spices and combination of ingredients.


GREEN CHILI: Green Chili is defined as containing NO beans!! Green chili here is made with or without meat, green chili peppers, spices and combination of ingredients.


BEAN/COWBOY CHILI: Bean/Cowboy Chili is defined as the participant’s preferred combination of ingredients resulting in a dish including BEANS!! The preferred bean type is at the discretion of the participant.
